Kapphina

Kapphina’s name means “house-constellation” because when Kapphina’s parents had reached the age of forty or fifty they still had no son. Going to a temple, they prayed to one of the 28 constellations. The 28 constellations (in Chinese) are jue, kang, di, fang, xin, wei, ji, dou, niu, nü, xu, wei, shi, bi, kui, lou, wei, mao, bi, zi, can, jing, gui, liu, xing, zhang, yi, zhen. Kapphina’s parents prayed to the fourth constellation, fang or “house,” whose corresponding element is the sun and whose associated animal is the hare. They received a response and had a son.
