Chapter 38: PARAMITA (2).
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita ten Powers of the Buddha.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because attaining all dharma is difficult to overcome.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita four Fearlessnesses.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because attaining Knowledge of Path-Aspects does not regress.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita four Analytical Knowledges.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because attaining Knowledge of All appearances does not hinder.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita pronoun.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because causing peace and bliss for all sentient beings.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is the compassionate Paramita.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because causing benefit to all sentient beings.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita’s great joy.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because does not abandon all sentient beings.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita great equanimity.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because mind is always equal with regard to the sentient beings.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita eighteen unique Buddha qualities.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because there already transcends all dharma Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita dharma of non-forgetfulness.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because dharma of non-forgetfulness cannot apprehended.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita nature of ever-present equanimity.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because dharma always discharges cannot be apprehended.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita all Dharani gateways.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because the general dharma cannot be apprehended.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita all Samadhi gateways.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because the dharma cannot be apprehended.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita Knowledge of All.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because dharma Knowledge of All cannot apprehended.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita Knowledge of Path-Aspects.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because dharma Knowledge of Path-Aspects cannot apprehended.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita Knowledge of All Generals.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because dharma Knowledge of All appearances cannot be apprehended.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita all Great Bodhisattva practice.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because dharma all Great Bodhisattva practice cannot apprehended.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because dharma supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas cannot apprehended.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita Tathagata.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because is capable of speaking truthfully regarding all dharma.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita as natural.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because with regard to all dharma always obtain self at.
Good Manifestation Devas said to Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, Perfection of Wisdom as such is Paramita Perfect Enlightenment.
The Buddha said: In the same way, is because with regard to all the dharma is capable of enlightenment correct equality regarding all appearances.
Chapter 39: MERITS DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND (1)
At that time, Indra thought thus: If good men and women who have already been with regard to immeasurable the Buddha Tathagata, Worthy One, Perfectly Enlightened One within the past, close offerings, make extensive vows, plant the wholesome roots, obtain many good knowledge and accept life then now newly obtain hear the name self merit and virtue Perfection of Wisdom as such, all the more so permanent copy, read and recite, uphold, only like reason, because people say, or depending on ability to practice correctly following dharma, one should know people who have already in place immeasurable all Buddhas within the past, close, vehicle events, reverently make offerings to, respect, praise, plant the roots of virtue, have heard the Perfection of Wisdom; listen then maintain, meditate, read and recite, because people say, practice according to the teachings; or with regard to this permanent question and answer, due to this method, therefore now obtain thus.
If good men and women who have already made immeasurable offerings to the Tathagata, Worthy One, Perfectly Enlightened One, pure merit and virtue, hear this Perfection of Wisdom, and mind not in awe, not afraid, not scared; listen then believe, practice correctly following dharma, then one should know people who have many memories of lifetimes have already cultivated Generosity, Pure Precepts, Patient Endurance, Diligent Effort, Meditative Concentration, and the Perfection of Wisdom for should life now newly accomplished achieve this.?
At that time, The Venerable Śāriputra told Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, if good men and women who hear the profound and wonderful meaning of this Perfection of Wisdom and mind not in awe, not afraid, not afraid, listen then copy, read and recite, uphold, think only as reason, because people express the words, or also depending on force, practice correctly according to dharma teachings, then one should know those people as the Great Bodhisattva in venerable ones non-retrogressing. Because why? Venerable World-Honored One, because Perfection of Wisdom thus has a profound meaning, very difficult to believe and understand; if previous life did not cultivate long term regarding Generosity, Pure Precepts, Patient Endurance, Diligent Effort, Meditative Concentration, and the Perfection of Wisdom then where would be able to obtain hearing and immediate understanding.
Venerable World-Honored One, if good men and women who hear says Perfection of Wisdom and disparage, slander then one should know people who previous life with regard to Perfection of this profound Wisdom, also have already slandered. Because why? Venerable World-Honored One, because good men and women who hear say Perfection of profound Wisdom thus, due to previous life habits, therefore do not believe, do not like, mind is not pure.
Venerable World-Honored One, good men and women who have never been close to all Buddhas Bodhisattva and the assembly of disciples, have never asked how Perfection of Generosity should be practiced; therefore abide in internal emptiness as such; Therefore resides in external emptiness, emptiness of both internal and external, emptiness of emptiness, great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, emptiness of conditioned phenomena, emptiness of unconditioned phenomena, emptiness of finality, limitless emptiness, emptiness of dispersion, unchanging emptiness, emptiness of original nature, emptiness of individual characteristics, emptiness of shared characteristics, emptiness of all phenomena, emptiness of non-apprehensibility, emptiness of non-nature, emptiness of self-nature, emptiness of non-nature-self-nature like that; therefore abides in true suchness as such; therefore abides in dharma-realm, dharma-nature, nature of non-falsity, nature of non-alteration, nature of equality, nature dissociated from birth, dharma-fixity, dharma-abiding, reality-limit, realm of space, inconceivable realm as such; therefore abides in the Noble Truth of Suffering as such; Therefore abide in Noble Truths of Arising, Cessation, and the Path as such; Therefore, practice the four Meditative Concentrations like that; Therefore, four Immeasurables, four Formless Concentrations are like that; Therefore, practice eight Liberations as such; Therefore, from eight Bases of Mastery, nine Sequential Concentrations, ten Totalities as such; Therefore, practicing the four Recitations abides in as such; Therefore, practice four Right Efforts, four Bases of Supernatural Power, five Spiritual Faculties, five Powers, seven Factors of Enlightenment, eight-fold Noble Path like that; Therefore, how to practice Liberation Gateway of Emptiness; Therefore, practice Liberation Gateway of Signlessness, Wishlessness as such; Therefore, practice five Eyes like that; Therefore, how to practice six Supernormal Powers; Therefore, let’s practice the name Powers of the Buddha as such; Therefore, practice four Fearlessnesses, four Analytical Knowledges, great Loving-kindness, great Compassion, great Sympathetic Joy, great Equanimity, eighteen unique Buddha qualities as such; Therefore, practice the dharma of non-forgetfulness as such; Therefore, the nature of ever-present equanimity is such; therefore tu Knowledge of All as such; Therefore, from Knowledge of Path-Aspects, Knowledge of All-Aspects as such; Therefore, practice all Dharani gateways as such; Therefore, practice all Samadhi gateways as such; Therefore, practice all Great Bodhisattva practice like that; Therefore practice the supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas like that; Therefore, now when you hear the profound Perfection of Wisdom, you criticize, slander, do not believe, do not like, mind is not pure.
At that time, Indra said to Śāriputra: Venerable sir, Perfection of Wisdom thus, the profound meaning is very difficult to believe and difficult to understand. If good men and women who with regard to Generosity, Pure Precepts, Patient Endurance, Diligent Effort, Meditative Concentration, and the Perfection of Wisdom have long not believed, have not yet cultivated, then when hearing the words Perfection of Wisdom cannot believe, or mind destruction is something that has been able to happen.
If good men and women do, with regard to internal emptiness, external emptiness, emptiness of both internal and external, emptiness of emptiness, great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, emptiness of conditioned phenomena, emptiness of unconditioned phenomena, emptiness of finality, limitless emptiness, emptiness of dispersion, unchanging emptiness, emptiness of original nature, emptiness of individual characteristics, emptiness of shared characteristics, emptiness of all phenomena, emptiness of non-apprehensibility, emptiness of non-nature, emptiness of self-nature, emptiness of non-nature-self-nature for a long time have not yet believed, for a long time not abided in then when heard saying Perfection of Wisdom cannot believe, understand, or generate mind destruction is something that has been able to happen.
If good men and women do, with regard to true suchness, dharma-realm, dharma-nature, nature of non-falsity, nature of non-alteration, nature of equality, nature dissociated from birth, dharma-fixity, dharma-abiding, reality-limit, realm of space, inconceivable realm long have not yet believed, long not stood in then when heard saying Perfection of Wisdom cannot believe, or born mind destruction is something that has been able to happen out.
If any good men and women, with regard to the four Noble Truths have long not yet believed, have long not settled, when hearing the words Perfection of Wisdom then cannot believe, or give rise to mind destruction is the thing that has be able to happen.
If good men and women do, with regard to four Dhyanas, four Immeasurables, four Formless Concentrations, or eight Liberations, eight Bases of Mastery, nine Sequential Concentrations, ten Totalities, or four Foundations of Mindfulness, four Right Efforts, four Bases of Supernatural Power, five Spiritual Faculties, five Powers, seven Factors of Enlightenment, eight-fold Noble Path, or dharma gateways of liberation Khyou, Signlessness, Wishlessness, or the ten levels of Bodhisattva, long time not yet believed, long time not cultivated then when heard says Perfection of Wisdom cannot believe, or born of mind destruction is something that has be able to happen.
If any good men and women, with regard to five Eyes, six Supernormal Powers, or ten Powers of the Buddha, four Fearlessnesses, four Analytical Knowledges, great Loving-kindness, great Compassion, great Sympathetic Joy, great Equanimity, eighteen unique Buddha qualities, or dharma of non-forgetfulness and the nature of ever-present equanimity, or Knowledge of All, Knowledge of Path-Aspects, Knowledge of All-Aspects, or all Dharani gateways, all Samadhi gateways have not yet understood for a long time, have not yet cultivated for a long time, then when they heard the words Perfection of Wisdom cannot believe or understand, or birth the mind to destroy is something that has been able to happen.
If any good men and women, with regard to all Great Bodhisattva practice, or supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas, have not yet believed, have not cultivated for a long time, then when they hear the words Perfection of Wisdom cannot believe, or the mind is destroyed, is the thing that has been able to happen.
Venerable Venerable, I now pay profound respect to Perfection of Wisdom; Paying homage to the Perfection of Wisdom means paying homage to the wisdom of Omniscient Knowledge.
At this time, The Buddha said to Indra: Hey Kauśika, that’s right, that’s right, as you said! Paying homage to the Perfection of Wisdom means paying homage to the wisdom of Omniscient Knowledge. Because why? O Kauśika, because the wisdom of Omniscient Knowledge of all Buddhas World-Honored One all from Perfection of Wisdom and obtain arises.
Hey Kauśika, if good men and women who wish to abide in the wisdom of Omniscient Knowledge of all Buddhas then should abide in Perfection of Wisdom, want to start Knowledge of All, Knowledge of Path-Aspects, Knowledge of All-Aspects then should learn Perfection of Wisdom, want to cut off all afflictions and habits then should learn Perfection of Wisdom; If you want to realize the supreme fruit of Enlightenment, the miraculous transformation of dharma, that immeasurable degree, then you should study Perfection of Wisdom.
If good men and women who wish to use skillful means in order to establish sentient beings in attainment Stream-enterer, or attainment Once-returner, or attainment Non-returner, or attainment Arahant, or attainment Pratyekabuddhas, or want to self-study then should learn Perfection of Wisdom.
If good men and women who wish to use skillful means in order to establish sentient beings in supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas then should learn Perfection of Wisdom.
If good men and women who wish to use skillful means in order to establish sentient beings in the Great Bodhisattva practice causes non-retrogressing, or want self practice then should learn Perfection of Wisdom.
If Great Bodhisattva wants those of submitting the assembly of ghosts, eliminating non-Buddhists then should learn Perfection of Wisdom.
If Great Bodhisattva wants to skillfully accept the Bhikshu then he should study Perfection of Wisdom.
At that time, Indra addressed the Buddha:
Venerable World-Honored One, the Great Bodhisattva when practicing Perfection of Wisdom then abide in form like such, abide in feeling, perception, formations, consciousness like such?” Cultivate a form like that, cultivate feeling, perception, formations, consciousness like that? Dwell in eye-base as such, abide in ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind-bases as such? Cultivate eye-base as such, cultivate ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind-bases as such? Dwell in form-base as such, abide in sound, scent, taste, tangible, and dharma-bases as such? Cultivate form-base as such, cultivate sound, scent, taste, tangible, and dharma-bases as such? Dwell eye-element as such, abide in form-element, eye-consciousness-element and eye-contact together with the feelings arising from eye-contact as conditions as such? Cultivate eye-element as such, cultivate world form through to the life due to eye-contact causes arising as conditions as such? Dwell in ear-element as such, abide in sound-element, ear-consciousness-element and ear-contact together with the feelings arising from ear-contact as conditions as such? Cultivate sound-element through to the feelings arising from ear-contact as conditions like such? Dwell in nose-element as such, abide in scent-element, nose-consciousness-element and nose-contact together with the feelings arising from nose-contact as conditions as such? Cultivate nose-element as such, cultivate scent-element through to the feelings arising from nose-contact as conditions as such? Abiding tongue-element as such, residing in taste-element, tongue-consciousness-element and tongue-contact together with the feelings arising from tongue-contact as conditions as such? Cultivate taste-element through to the feelings arising from tongue-contact as conditions as such? Dwell body-element as such, abide in tangible-element, body-consciousness-element and body-contact together with the feelings arising from body-contact as conditions as such? Cultivate tangible-element through to the feelings arising from body-contact as conditions as such? Dwell in mind-element as such, abide in dharma-element, mind-consciousness-element and mind-contact together with the feelings arising from mind-contact as conditions as such? Cultivate mind-element as such, cultivate dharma-element through to the feelings arising from mind-contact as conditions as such? Dwell on earth-element as such, abide in water, fire, wind, space, and consciousness-elements as such? Cultivate earth-element as such, cultivate water, fire, wind, space, and consciousness-elements as such? Dwell ignorance as such, abide in formations, consciousness, name-and-form, six sense bases, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, existence, birth, aging-and-death, sorrow-lamentation-suffering-dejection-distress as such? Cultivate formations through to aging-and-death, sorrow-lamentation-suffering-dejection-distress as such? Abiding in Pure Precepts, Patient Endurance, Diligent Effort, Meditative Concentration, Perfection of Wisdom as such? Cultivate Perfection of Generosity as such, cultivate Pure Precepts through to Perfection of Wisdom as such? Abide in internal emptiness as such, abide in external emptiness, emptiness of both internal and external, emptiness of emptiness, great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, emptiness of conditioned phenomena, emptiness of unconditioned phenomena, emptiness of finality, limitless emptiness, emptiness of dispersion, unchanging emptiness, emptiness of original nature, emptiness of individual characteristics, emptiness of shared characteristics, emptiness of all phenomena, emptiness of non-apprehensibility, emptiness of non-nature, emptiness of self-nature, emptiness of non-nature-self-nature like that? Cultivate internal emptiness as such, cultivate external emptiness through to emptiness of non-nature-self-nature as such? Abiding in true suchness as such, residing in dharma-realm, dharma-nature, nature of non-falsity, nature of non-alteration, nature of equality, nature dissociated from birth, dharma-fixity, dharma-abiding, reality-limit, realm of space, inconceivable realm like such? Cultivate true suchness as such, cultivate dharma-realm through to the inconceivable realm as such? Abide in the Noble Truths of Arising, Cessation, and the Path as such? Cultivate Noble Truths of Suffering as such, cultivate Noble Truths of Arising, Cessation, and the Path like such? Abide in four Meditative Concentrations as such, abide in four Immeasurables, four Formless Concentrations as such? Cultivate four Immeasurables, four Formless Concentrations as such? Cultivate four Immeasurables, four Formless Concentrations as such? Abide in eight Liberations as such, abide in eight Bases of Mastery, nine Sequential Concentrations, ten Totalities as such? Cultivate eight Liberations as such, cultivate eight Bases of Mastery, nine Sequential Concentrations, ten Totalities as such? Abiding in the four Recitations as such, residing in four Right Efforts, four Bases of Supernatural Power, five Spiritual Faculties, five Powers, seven Factors of Enlightenment, eight-fold Noble Path as such? Cultivate four Right Efforts through to eight-fold Noble Path as such? Abide in Liberation Gateway of Emptiness as such, abide in Liberation Gateway of Signlessness, Wishlessness as such? Cultivate Liberation Gateway of Emptiness as such, cultivate Liberation Gateway of Signlessness, Wishlessness as such? How to abide in the ten Bodhisattva realms like that? How to practice the ten levels of Bodhisattva as such? Dwell in five Eyes as such, abide in six Supernormal Powers as such? Cultivate five Eyes as such, cultivate six Supernormal Powers as such? Abiding in four Fearlessnesses, four Analytical Knowledges, great Loving-kindness, great Compassion, great Sympathetic Joy, great Equanimity, eighteen unique Buddha qualities like such? Cultivate four Fearlessnesses through to eighteen unique Buddha qualities as such? Cultivate four Fearlessnesses through to eighteen unique Buddha qualities as such? Dwell in the dharma of non-forgetfulness as such, abide in the nature of ever-present equanimity as such? Cultivate the dharma of non-forgetfulness as such, cultivate the nature of ever-present equanimity as such? Abide in Knowledge of All as such, abide in Knowledge of Path-Aspects, Knowledge of All-Aspects as such? Cultivate Knowledge of All as such, cultivate Knowledge of Path-Aspects, Knowledge of All-Aspects as such? Abide in all Dharani gateways as such, abide in all Samadhi gateways as such? Cultivate all Dharani gateways as such, cultivate all Samadhi gateways as such? Abide in attainment Stream-enterer as such, abide in attainment Once-returner, Non-returner, Arahant as such? Cultivate attainment Stream-enterer as such, attain cultivation Once-returner, Non-returner, Arahant as such? Remain in Pratyekabuddha attainment as such? Practice Pratyekabuddha attainment as such? Remain all Great Bodhisattva practice like that? Practice all Great Bodhisattva practice like that? Dwell on the supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas like that? How to practice the supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas like that?
At that time, The Buddha said to Indra: Hey Kauśika, how nice, how nice! He now relies on the divine power of Buddha so has be able to ask Tathagata the profound meaning as such! Listen! Listen and think carefully, I will tell you.
Hey Kauśika, Great Bodhisattva when practicing Perfection of Wisdom, if with regard to form not dwelling, not cultivating is residing in cult form; if with regard to feeling, perception, formations, consciousness not dwell, not cultivate means is embedded in cult feeling, perception, formations, consciousness. Because why? Hey Kauśika, because form through form in order to abide, practice, cannot be apprehended.
Hey Kauśika, Great Bodhisattva when practicing Perfection of Wisdom, if with regard to eye-base not residing, not cultivating is residing in cultivating eye-base; if with regard to ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind-bases not dwell, not cultivate means residing in cultivate ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind-bases. Because why? Hey Kauśika, because eye-base through to Italian origin in order to abide in cultivate those, cannot apprehended.
Hey Kauśika, Great Bodhisattva when practicing Perfection of Wisdom, if with regard to form-base not residing, not cultivating is residing in cultivating form-base; if with regard to sound, scent, taste, tangible, and dharma-bases not an abode, not cultivate means residing in cultivate sound, scent, taste, tangible, and dharma-bases. Because why? Hey Kauśika, because form-base through to dharma origin in order to abide in cultivate those, cannot apprehended.
Hey Kauśika, Great Bodhisattva when practicing Perfection of Wisdom, if with regard to eye-element not residing, not cultivating is residing in cultivating eye-element; if with regard to form-element, eye-consciousness-element and eye-contact together with the feelings arising from eye-contact as conditions not residing, not cultivating is residing in cultivating form precept through to the feeling due to eye-contact causing arising as conditions. Because why? Hey Kauśika, because eye-element through to the lifespan due to eye-contact causes arise as conditions in order to abide in cultivate those, cannot apprehended.
Hey Kauśika, Great Bodhisattva when practicing Perfection of Wisdom, if with regard to ear-element not residing, not cultivating is residing in cultivating ear-element; if with regard to sound-element, ear-consciousness-element and ear-contact together with the feelings arising from ear-contact as conditions not residing, not cultivating is residing in cultivating sound-element through to the feelings arising from ear-contact as conditions. Because why? Hey Kauśika, because ear-element through to the lifespan due to ear-contact causes arise as conditions in order to abide in cultivate those, cannot apprehended.
Hey Kauśika, Great Bodhisattva when practicing Perfection of Wisdom, if with regard to nose-element not residing, not cultivating is residing in cultivating nose-element; if with regard to scent-element, nose-consciousness-element and nose-contact together with the feelings arising from nose-contact as conditions not residing, not cultivating is embedded in culting scent-element through to the feelings arising from nose-contact as conditions. Because why? Hey Kauśika, because nose-element through to the lifespan due to nose-contact causes arise as conditions in order to abide in cultivate those, cannot apprehended.
Hey Kauśika, Great Bodhisattva when practicing Perfection of Wisdom, if with regard to tongue-element not residing, not cultivating is residing in cultivating tongue-element; if with regard to taste-element, tongue-consciousness-element and tongue-contact together with the feelings arising from tongue-contact as conditions not residing, not cultivating is embedded in cultivating taste-element through to the feelings arising from tongue-contact as conditions. Because why? Hey Kauśika, because tongue-element through to the longevity due to tongue-contact causes arise as conditions in order to abide in cultivate those, cannot apprehended.
Hey Kauśika, Great Bodhisattva when practicing Perfection of Wisdom, if with regard to body-element not residing, not cultivating is residing in cultivating body-element; if with regard to intangible-element, body-consciousness-element and body-contact together with the feelings arising from body-contact as conditions not residing, not cultivating is embedded in cult intangible-element through to the feelings arising from body-contact as conditions. Because why? Hey Kauśika, because body-element through to the lifespan due to body-contact causes arise as conditions in order to abide in cultivate those, cannot apprehended.
