At that time, within this three-thousand-fold world system, the heaven of the Four Great Heavenly Kings, the heaven of the Thirty-three, the Yama heaven, the Tusita heaven, the heaven of Joyful Transformation, the heaven of Others’ Transformations, the heaven of Brahma’s Retinue, the heaven of Brahma’s Ministers, the heaven of Brahma’s Assembly, the heaven of Great Brahma, the heaven of Light, the heaven of Minor Light, the heaven of Limitless Light, the heaven of Extreme Light and Purity, the heaven of Purity, the heaven of Minor Purity, the heaven of Limitless Purity, the heaven of Complete Purity, the heaven of Vast, the heaven of Minor Vast, the heaven of Limitless Vast, the heaven of Vast Fruit, the heaven of No Vexation, the heaven of No Heat, the heaven of Good Appearance, the heaven of Good Vision, and the heaven of Akanistha all spoke together to Sakra, Lord of the Devas:
“Great Sage, you should uphold this Prajnaparamita!
Great Sage, you should preserve this Prajnaparamita! Great Sage, you should read this Prajnaparamita! Great Sage, you should recite this Prajnaparamita! Great Sage, you should diligently study and practice this Prajnaparamita! Great Sage, you should contemplate this Prajnaparamita correctly according to the principle! Great Sage, you should respectfully make offerings to, honor and praise this Prajnaparamita! Why? Great Sage, because if one constantly upholds, recites, diligently studies and practices, contemplates correctly according to the principle, respectfully makes offerings to, honors and praises this Prajnaparamita, it will cause all evil dharmas to diminish and all wholesome dharmas to increase.
Great Sage, if one constantly upholds, recites, diligently studies and practices, contemplates correctly according to the principle, respectfully makes offerings to, honors and praises this Prajnaparamita, it will cause all the Heavenly assemblies to increase and the numbers of Asuras to decrease.
Great Sage, if one constantly upholds, recites, diligently studies and practices, contemplates correctly according to the principle, respectfully makes offerings to, honors and praises this Prajnaparamita, it will cause the Buddha Eye to not be extinguished, the Dharma Eye to not be extinguished, the Sangha Eye to not be extinguished.
Great Sage, if one constantly upholds, recites, diligently studies and practices, contemplates correctly according to the principle, respectfully makes offerings to, honors and praises this Prajnaparamita, it will cause the lineage of the Buddha Jewel to not be cut off, the lineage of the Dharma Jewel to not be cut off, the lineage of the Sangha Jewel to not be cut off.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, Dana, Sila, Ksanti, Virya, Dhyana, and Prajnaparamita appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, inner emptiness, outer emptiness, both inner and outer emptiness, emptiness of emptiness, great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, emptiness of conditioned phenomena, emptiness of unconditioned phenomena, emptiness of ultimate reality, emptiness without limits, scattered emptiness, immutable emptiness, emptiness of inherent nature, emptiness of self-characteristics, emptiness of shared characteristics, emptiness of all dharmas, emptiness of the incomprehensible, emptiness of non-nature, emptiness of self-nature, emptiness of the non-nature of self-nature appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, Suchness, the Dharma-realm, Dharma-nature, non-falseness, immutability, equality, freedom from birth, the Dharma’s determinate nature, the Dharma’s abiding nature, ultimate reality, the realm of empty space, the inconceivable realm appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the Holy Truth of Suffering, the Holy Truth of Origination, Cessation, and the Path appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the four Dhyanas, the four Immeasurables, and the four Formless Absorptions appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the eight Liberations, the eight Bases of Mastery, the nine Sequential Absorptions, and the ten Totality Bases appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the four Foundations of Mindfulness, the four Right Efforts, the four Bases of Miraculous Powers, the five Spiritual Faculties, the five Spiritual Powers, the seven Factors of Enlightenment, and the Eightfold Noble Path appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the liberation gate of Emptiness, the liberation gate of Signlessness, and Wishlessness appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the five types of eyes and the six supernatural powers appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the ten powers of the Buddha, the four fearlessnesses, the four kinds of unobstructed knowledge, great Loving-kindness, great Compassion, great Joy, great Equanimity, and the eighteen unique qualities of a Buddha appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the dharma of non-forgetfulness and the nature of constant equanimity appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, all Dharani gates and all Samadhi gates appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the wisdom of Omniscience, the wisdom of Path-signs, and the wisdom of All-signs appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the Sravaka vehicle, the Pratyekabuddha vehicle, and the Supreme Vehicle appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, Stream-enterers, Once-returners, Non-returners, and Arhats appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, the path to Stream-entry, the fruit of Stream-entry, the path to Once-returning, the fruit of Once-returning, the path to Non-returning, the fruit of Non-returning, the path to Arhatship, and the fruit of Arhatship appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, Pratyekabuddhas and the path to Pratyekabuddha and the fruit of Pratyekabuddha appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, Great Bodhisattvas and Tathagata-Arhat-Samyak-sam-Buddhas appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, Great Bodhisattvas and the dharmas of the ten stages of the Great Bodhisattva appear in the world.
Great Sage, know that because the lineage of the three jewels is not severed, Tathagata-Arhat-Samyak-sam-Buddhas and the stage of Supreme Enlightenment appear in the world.
Therefore, Great Sage, you should uphold, recite, diligently study and practice, contemplate correctly according to the principle, respectfully make offerings to, honor and praise this Prajnaparamita.
At that time, the Buddha said to Sakra, Lord of the Devas:
“Kausika, you should uphold this profound Prajnaparamita, you should preserve this profound Prajnaparamita, you should read this profound Prajnaparamita, you should recite this profound Prajnaparamita, you should diligently study and practice this profound Prajnaparamita, you should contemplate this profound Prajnaparamita correctly according to the principle, you should respectfully make offerings to, honor and praise this profound Prajnaparamita. Why? Kausika, if the fierce and insolent Asura faction gives rise to the evil thought: ‘We shall array our troops and fight with the heaven of the Thirty-three’ — at that time, you and your heavenly retinues should wholeheartedly recite this profound Prajnaparamita and respectfully make offerings to, honor and praise it — then the evil minds of the fierce and insolent Asura faction will immediately be extinguished and not arise again.
Kausika, if the five signs of decline appear for any heavenly sons or heavenly daughters, and their minds are terrified and fearful of falling into the evil destinies — at that time, you and your heavenly retinues should appear before them and wholeheartedly recite this Prajnaparamita — then those heavenly sons or heavenly daughters, through the wholesome root of hearing this Prajnaparamita, will generate pure faith in this Prajnaparamita, and therefore the five signs of decline will immediately vanish, body and mind will be at ease and serene; even at the end of their lives they will be reborn in their original place, enjoying all the bliss of the heavenly realm even more than before. Why? Kausika, because the awesome power of the merit of hearing and believing in Prajnaparamita is vast and great.
Kausika, either good men and good women, or heavenly sons and heavenly daughters, through the wholesome root of hearing this Prajnaparamita just once, will definitively realize the stage of Supreme Enlightenment. Why?
Kausika, because all the Buddhas and their disciples of the past all studied this Prajnaparamita, realized the stage of Supreme Enlightenment, and entered the realm of Nirvana-without-remainder. All the Buddhas and their disciples of the future will all study this Prajnaparamita, will realize the stage of Supreme Enlightenment, and will enter the realm of Nirvana-without-remainder. The immeasurable Buddhas and their disciples presently in the ten directions all study this Prajnaparamita, are presently realizing the stage of Supreme Enlightenment, and entering the realm of Nirvana-without-remainder. Why? Kausika, because this Prajnaparamita encompasses all the factors of enlightenment; whether the dharmas of the Sravaka, the dharmas of the Pratyekabuddha, the dharmas of the Bodhisattva, or the dharmas of the Tathagata — all are fully and completely encompassed.
Sakra, Lord of the Devas, addressed the Buddha:
“World-Honored One, Prajnaparamita as such is the Great Spiritual Mantra; Prajnaparamita as such is the Great Illuminating Mantra; Prajnaparamita as such is the Unsurpassed Mantra; Prajnaparamita as such is the Mantra without equal; Prajnaparamita as such is the King of all mantras — supreme, supremely wondrous, capable of subduing all, unable to be subdued by anything. Why? World-Honored One, because Prajnaparamita as such is capable of eliminating all evil and unwholesome dharmas, and capable of gathering and growing all wholesome dharmas.”
The Buddha said to Sakra, Lord of the Devas:
“That is so, that is so, as you have said! Kausika, Prajnaparamita as such is the Great Spiritual Mantra, is the Great Illuminating Mantra, is the Unsurpassed Mantra, is the Mantra without equal, is the King of all mantras — supreme, supremely wondrous, capable of subduing all, unable to be subdued by anything. Why? Because all the Buddhas of the past, relying on this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, have realized the stage of Supreme Enlightenment. All the Buddhas of the future, relying on this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, will realize the stage of Supreme Enlightenment. The immeasurable Buddhas presently in the ten directions all rely on this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, and are presently realizing the stage of Supreme Enlightenment. Why? Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, the ten courses of wholesome karma appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, the dharmas of the giving of Dharma, observing fasting, and upholding precepts appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, the four Dhyanas, the four Immeasurables, the four Formless Absorptions, and the five supernatural powers appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, Dana-paramita, Sila-paramita, Ksanti-paramita, Virya-paramita, Dhyana-paramita, and Prajnaparamita appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, inner emptiness, outer emptiness, both inner and outer emptiness, emptiness of emptiness, great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, emptiness of conditioned phenomena, emptiness of unconditioned phenomena, emptiness of ultimate reality, emptiness without limits, scattered emptiness, immutable emptiness, emptiness of inherent nature, emptiness of self-characteristics, emptiness of shared characteristics, emptiness of all dharmas, emptiness of the incomprehensible, emptiness of non-nature, emptiness of self-nature, emptiness of the non-nature of self-nature appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, Suchness, the Dharma-realm, Dharma-nature, non-falseness, immutability, equality, freedom from birth, the Dharma’s determinate nature, the Dharma’s abiding nature, ultimate reality, the realm of empty space, the inconceivable realm appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, the Holy Truth of Suffering, the Holy Truth of Origination, the Holy Truth of Cessation, the Holy Truth of the Path appear in the world.

Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, the path to Stream-entry, the fruit of Stream-entry, the path to Once-returning, the fruit of Once-returning, the path to Non-returning, the fruit of Non-returning, the path to Arhatship, and the fruit of Arhatship appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, Pratyekabuddhas and the path to Pratyekabuddha and the fruit of Pratyekabuddha appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, Great Bodhisattvas and the practices of the ten stages of the Great Bodhisattva appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, Tathagata-Arhat-Samyak-sam-Buddhas and the stage of Supreme Enlightenment appear in the world.
Furthermore, Kausika, because relying on the cause of this Great King of Mantras, the profound Prajnaparamita, Great Bodhisattvas appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of the Great Bodhisattva, the ten courses of wholesome karma appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of the Great Bodhisattva, the dharmas of the giving of Dharma, observing fasting, and upholding precepts appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of the Great Bodhisattva, the four Dhyanas, the four Immeasurables, the four Formless Absorptions, and the five supernatural powers appear in the world.

Kausika, because relying on the cause of the Great Bodhisattva, Stream-enterers, Once-returners, Non-returners, and Arhats appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of the Great Bodhisattva, the path to Stream-entry, the fruit of Stream-entry, the path to Once-returning, the fruit of Once-returning, the path to Non-returning, the fruit of Non-returning, the path to Arhatship, the fruit of Arhatship, the path to Pratyekabuddha, and the fruit of Pratyekabuddha appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of the Great Bodhisattva, Great Bodhisattvas and the practices of the ten stages of the Great Bodhisattva appear in the world.
Kausika, because relying on the cause of the Great Bodhisattva, Tathagata-Arhat-Samyak-sam-Buddhas and the stage of Supreme Enlightenment appear in the world.
Kausika, it is like the fact that because relying on the cause of a full moon, all kinds of medicinal herbs, stars, mountains, and oceans become more radiant. Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all kinds of medicinal herbs such as the ten courses of wholesome karma in the world all become more radiant. Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all kinds of medicinal herbs such as the giving of Dharma, observing fasting, and upholding precepts in the world all become more radiant.
Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all kinds of medicinal herbs such as the four Dhyanas, the four Immeasurables, the four Formless Absorptions, and the five supernatural powers in the world all become more radiant.
Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all kinds of medicinal herbs such as Dana-paramita, Sila-paramita, Ksanti-paramita, Virya-paramita, Dhyana-paramita, and Prajnaparamita in the world all become more radiant.

Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all kinds of medicinal herbs such as all Dharani gates and all Samadhi gates in the world all become more radiant.
Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all kinds of medicinal herbs such as the wisdom of Omniscience, the wisdom of Path-signs, and the wisdom of All-signs in the world all become more radiant.
Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all kinds of medicinal herbs such as Stream-enterers, Once-returners, Non-returners, and Arhats in the world all become more radiant.
Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all kinds of medicinal herbs such as the path to Stream-entry, the fruit of Stream-entry, the path to Once-returning, the fruit of Once-returning, the path to Non-returning, the fruit of Non-returning, the path to Arhatship, the fruit of Arhatship, the path to Pratyekabuddha, and the fruit of Pratyekabuddha in the world all become more radiant.
Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all kinds of medicinal herbs such as the practices of the ten stages of the Great Bodhisattva and the stage of Supreme Enlightenment in the world all become more radiant.
Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all the star-forms of Sravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, learners, and non-learners in the world all become more radiant.
Likewise, because relying on the cause of the full moon that is the Great Bodhisattva, all the mountains and oceans such as the Great Bodhisattvas and Tathagata-Arhat-Samyak-sam-Buddhas all become more radiant.
Kausika, if the Tathagata-Arhat-Samyak-sam-Buddhas have not yet manifested in the world, only the Great Bodhisattva fully possesses skillful means, expounding all worldly and supramundane dharmas in a fitting manner for sentient beings. Why? Kausika, know that the Great Bodhisattva is capable of generating all the Human vehicle, the Heavenly vehicle, the Sravaka vehicle, the Pratyekabuddha vehicle, and the Supreme Vehicle.

Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing Dana-paramita, is capable of practicing Sila-paramita, Ksanti-paramita, Virya-paramita, Dhyana-paramita, and Prajnaparamita.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing inner emptiness, outer emptiness, both inner and outer emptiness, emptiness of emptiness, great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, emptiness of conditioned phenomena, emptiness of unconditioned phenomena, emptiness of ultimate reality, emptiness without limits, scattered emptiness, immutable emptiness, emptiness of inherent nature, emptiness of self-characteristics, emptiness of shared characteristics, emptiness of all dharmas, emptiness of the incomprehensible, emptiness of non-nature, emptiness of self-nature, emptiness of the non-nature of self-nature.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing Suchness, is capable of practicing the Dharma-realm, Dharma-nature, non-falseness, immutability, equality, freedom from birth, the Dharma’s determinate nature, the Dharma’s abiding nature, ultimate reality, the realm of empty space, the inconceivable realm.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing the Holy Truth of Suffering, is capable of practicing the Holy Truth of Origination, Cessation, and the Path.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing the four Dhyanas, is capable of practicing the four Immeasurables and the four Formless Absorptions.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing the eight Liberations, is capable of practicing the eight Bases of Mastery, the nine Sequential Absorptions, and the ten Totality Bases.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing the four Foundations of Mindfulness, is capable of practicing the four Right Efforts, the four Bases of Miraculous Powers, the five Spiritual Faculties, the five Spiritual Powers, the seven Factors of Enlightenment, and the Eightfold Noble Path.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing the liberation gate of Emptiness, is capable of practicing the liberation gate of Signlessness and Wishlessness.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing the five types of eyes, is capable of practicing the six supernatural powers.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing the ten powers of the Buddha, is capable of practicing the four fearlessnesses, the four kinds of unobstructed knowledge, great Loving-kindness, great Compassion, great Joy, great Equanimity, and the eighteen unique qualities of a Buddha.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing the dharma of non-forgetfulness, is capable of practicing the nature of constant equanimity.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing all Dharani gates, is capable of practicing all Samadhi gates.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of practicing the wisdom of Omniscience, is capable of practicing the wisdom of Path-signs and the wisdom of All-signs.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of realizing the thirty-two marks of a Great Being, is capable of realizing the eighty secondary characteristics.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, does not fall into the Sravaka stage and does not realize the Pratyekabuddha stage.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of bringing all fulfillment to sentient beings, is capable of adorning and purifying the Buddha-land.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of attaining the perfection of lifespan, is capable of attaining the perfection of material goods, the perfection of the pure land, the perfection of lineage, the perfection of bodily strength, and the perfection of retinue.
Kausika, the Great Bodhisattva, because of accomplishing the wondrous power of skillful means, is capable of cultivating the practices of the ten stages of the Bodhisattva, is capable of realizing the stage of Supreme Enlightenment.
Kausika, thus, the Great Bodhisattva and the skillful means of all these Bodhisattvas are all accomplished through Prajnaparamita.
