Chapter 30: COMPARISON OF MERITS (32)
Furthermore, Kauśika, in addition to the sentient beings in the four great continents, if good men and good women educate all types of sentient beings in the small thousand worlds, making them all practice the four Jingdhis, the four Immeasurables, the four formless Concentrations, and the five miraculous powers, then what due to you think? Are these good men and good women blessed with many blessings due to this cause and effect?
Indra replied:
?Venerable sir, a lot! a lot!
Buddha taught:
?Hey Kauśika, if good men and good women copy Prajna If such a profound paramita is given to others to read, recite, or pass around to copy and spread widely, then that good man or good woman will have much more merit and virtue than before. Why? Kauśika, because all the outflow-free dharmas have been extensively mentioned in the secret collection of Prajnaparamita, Bodhisattvas of the Sravaka nature who practices this dharma quickly enter the Sravaka’s right nature of separation from birth, attaining Stream-winner fruition, once-returner fruition, non-returning fruition, and Arahant fruition; The Bodhisattva of the Single Enlightened nature, practicing and studying this dharma, quickly enters the right nature of separation from the Solitary Enlightenment, and in turn attains the state of Solitary Enlightenment; Bodhisattvas of the Bodhisattva nature who practice and study this dharma quickly enter the Bodhisattva’s right nature of separation from birth and attain the highest level of Enlightenment.
Kauśika, all the dharma of non-outflows have been widely mentioned in the secret collection of Prajnaparamita like that: Generosity paramita, Pure morality paramita, Forbearance paramita, Diligence paramita, Meditation paramita, Prajnaparamita; Dharma is empty inside, Dharma is empty outside, Dharma is both inside and outside, Dharma is empty, Dharma is not great, Dharma is not superior in meaning, Dharma is not conditioned, Dharma is not unconditioned, Dharma is ultimate, Dharma is empty without boundary, Dharma is not scattered, Dharma is not different, Dharma has no nature, Dharma is not self-appearance, Dharma is not combined with appearance, Dharma is empty in all dharmas, Dharma is empty that cannot be grasped, Dharma is empty without nature, Dharma is not self-nature, Dharma is empty without self-nature; Suchness, the dharma realm, the dharma nature, the nature of emptiness, the nature of no change, the nature of equality, the nature of separation, the dharma of concentration, the dharma of abiding, reality, the realm of emptiness, the inconceivable realm; four immeasurable stillness, four immeasurable, four formless concentration; eight Liberation, eight Sukhavati, nine Second Concentration, ten Transfiguration; the four pillars of mindfulness, the four right cessations, the four spiritual powers, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven limbs of enlightenment, the eight limbs of the noble path; the method of liberation from Emptiness, the method of liberation from the Formless, the method of liberation from the Wishless; five types of eyes, six magical powers; the Buddha’s ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the four clear understandings, great love, great compassion, great joy, great equanimity, eighteen uncombined Buddha dharmas; Dharma does not forget, nature is always equanimous; All-embracing wisdom, all-embracing Path knowledge, all-embracing wisdom; All Da-la-ni dharmas, all Samadhi dharmas and other immeasurable, limitless Buddha dharmas, all are the outflow-free dharmas mentioned therein.
Kauśika, if good men and good women teach a sentient being to stay in the stream of Stream-entry, the merit and virtue they will gain is greater than teaching all kinds of sentient beings in the microcosm of the world, making them all practice the four Jingdhis, the four Immeasurables, the four formless Concentrations, and the five miraculous powers. Why? Kauśika, because sentient beings who practice the four Meditations, the four Immeasurables, the four formless Concentrations, and the five magical powers cannot escape hell, animals, and ghosts. But if sentient beings stay in the state of Stream-entry, they will be forever freed from the three evil paths, let alone be taught and reformed to stay in the state of Once-returner, Non-returner, and Arhat, then will the merit and virtue not be better than that?
Kauśika, if the good men and good women who teach all kinds of sentient beings in the microcosm of the world all stay in the state of Stream-winner, Once-returner, Non-returner, and Arhat, then the merit and virtue they gain is not as good as having someone who teaches a sentient being, making them reside in the state of Solitary Enlightenment. Why? Kauśika, because the merit of Solitary Enlightenment is better than that of Stream-winner? hundreds, thousands of times.
Kauśika, if good men and good women teach all kinds of sentient beings in the microcosm of the world, making them all reside in the state of Solitary Enlightenment, the merit and virtue they will gain is not as good as someone who teaches a sentient having being towards the highest Enlightenment. Why? Kauśika, because if we educate sentient beings towards the highest level of Enlightenment, the Buddha’s eyes in the world will never end. Why? Because of the Great Bodhisattva, there is the fruit of stream-entry, once-returning, non-returning, arahantship and lone enlightenment; Because there is a Great Bodhisattva, there is a Tathagata who attains the highest level of Enlightenment. Because of the Great Bodhisattva, there are Buddha treasures, Dharma treasures, Sangha treasures, and all the worlds take refuge and make offerings. Therefore, Kauśika, all the worlds, are they Gods, Demons, Brahmas, Monks, Brahmins, Athlete and non-human beings? Should we use countless types of flower garlands, incense rubs, and incense powders? High-class clothes, clothes, flags, banners, treasured parasols, precious gems, good music, bright lights, all of these existing things, respectfully make offerings, respectfully praise the Great Bodhisattva.
Kauśika, due to there one should know, if good men and women copy Perfection of Wisdom profound as such, give to others read and recite, or passing to another copy, spread widely, then merit has obtain far more than says merit previously immeasurable, boundless. Because why? Because all excellent dharma of in the world and beyond the world have already extensively explained within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom as such. Because dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world has newly obtained existence of great Kshatriya lineage, great Brahmin lineage, great Elder lineage, great Householder lineage; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the assembly of the Heaven of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-Three Heavens (Trāyastriṃśa), the Yāma Heaven, the Tuṣita Heaven, the Heaven of Enjoyment by Transformation, the Heaven of Others’ Transformation; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Brahma Beings Heaven, the Brahma Ministers Heaven, the Great Brahma Heaven; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Light Heaven, the Minor Light Heaven, the Immeasurable Light Heaven, the Utmost Pure Light Heaven; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Purity Heaven, the Minor Purity Heaven, the Immeasurable Purity Heaven, the Universal Purity Heaven; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Radiance Heaven, the Minor Radiance Heaven, the Immeasurable Radiance Heaven, the Broad Result Heaven; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the No Affliction Heaven, the No Heat Heaven, the Good Manifestation Heaven, the Good Vision Heaven, the Highest Form Heaven (Akaniṣṭha); because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Realm of Infinite Space, the Realm of Infinite Consciousness, the Realm of Nothingness, the Realm of Neither Perception nor Non-Perception; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Perfection of Generosity, Perfection of Pure Precepts, Perfection of Patient Endurance, Perfection of Diligent Effort, Perfection of Meditative Concentration, Perfection of Wisdom; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of internal emptiness, external emptiness, emptiness of both internal and external, emptiness of emptiness, great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, emptiness of conditioned phenomena, emptiness of unconditioned phenomena, emptiness of finality, limitless emptiness, emptiness of dispersion, unchanging emptiness, emptiness of original nature, emptiness of individual characteristics, emptiness of shared characteristics, emptiness of all phenomena, emptiness of non-apprehensibility, emptiness of non-nature, emptiness of self-nature, emptiness of non-nature-self-nature; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of true suchness, dharma-realm, dharma-nature, nature of non-falsity, nature of non-alteration, nature of equality, nature dissociated from birth, dharma-fixity, dharma-abiding, reality-limit, realm of space, inconceivable realm; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Noble Truth of Suffering, Noble Truth of Arising, Noble Truth of Cessation, Noble Truth of the Path; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of four Dhyanas, four Immeasurables, four Formless Concentrations; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of eight Liberations, eight Bases of Mastery, nine Sequential Concentrations, ten Totalities; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of four Foundations of Mindfulness, four Right Efforts, four Bases of Supernatural Power, five Spiritual Faculties, five Powers, seven Factors of Enlightenment, eight-fold Noble Path; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Liberation Gateway of Emptiness, Liberation Gateway of Signlessness, Liberation Gateway of Wishlessness; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of five Eyes, six Supernormal Powers; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of ten Powers of the Buddha, four Fearlessnesses, four Analytical Knowledges, great Loving-kindness, great Compassion, great Sympathetic Joy, great Equanimity, eighteen unique Buddha qualities; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of dharma of non-forgetfulness and the nature of ever-present equanimity; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Knowledge of All, Knowledge of Path-Aspects, Knowledge of All-Aspects; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of all Dharani gateways, all Samadhi gateways; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Stream-enterers, Once-returners, Non-returners, Arahants and Stream-entry Path, Stream-entry Fruit, Once-returner Path, Once-returner Fruit, Non-returner Path, Non-returner Fruit, Arahant Path, Arahant Fruit; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Pratyekabuddhas and Pratyekabuddha attainment; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of all Great Bodhisattva and the Great Bodhisattva practice; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of all Tathagata, Worthy One, Perfectly Enlightened One and supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas.
Furthermore, Kauśika, in addition to the sentient beings in the microcosm world, if good men and good women educate all types of sentient beings in the middle-thousand world, making them all practice the four Jingdhis, the four Immeasurables, the four formless Concentrations, and the five miraculous powers, then what is due to you think? Are these good men and good women blessed with many blessings due to this cause and effect?

because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of all Tathagata, Worthy One, Perfectly Enlightened One and supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas.
Furthermore, Kauśika, in addition to the sentient beings in the middle world, if the good men and good women taught the sentient beings in the whole world three times a thousand times, making them all practice the four Jingdhis, the four Immeasurables, the four formless Concentrations, and the five miraculous powers, what would you think? Are these good men and good women blessed with many blessings due to this cause and effect?

Kauśika, all the dharma of non-outflows have been widely mentioned in the secret collection of Prajnaparamita like that: Generosity paramita, Pure morality paramita, Forbearance paramita, Diligence paramita, Meditation paramita, Prajnaparamita; Dharma is empty inside, Dharma is empty outside, Dharma is both inside and outside, Dharma is empty, Dharma is not great, Dharma is not superior in meaning, Dharma is not conditioned, Dharma is not unconditioned, Dharma is ultimate, Dharma is empty without boundary, Dharma is not scattered, Dharma is not different, Dharma has no nature, Dharma is not self-appearance, Dharma is not combined with appearance, Dharma is empty in all dharmas, Dharma is empty that cannot be grasped, Dharma is empty without nature, Dharma is not self-nature, Dharma is empty without self-nature; Suchness, the dharma realm, the dharma nature, the nature of emptiness, the nature of no change, the nature of equality, the nature of separation, the dharma of concentration, the dharma of abiding, reality, the realm of emptiness, the inconceivable realm; four immeasurable stillness, four immeasurable, four formless concentration; eight Liberation, eight Sukhavati, nine Second Concentration, ten Transfiguration; the four pillars of mindfulness, the four right cessations, the four spiritual powers, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven limbs of enlightenment, the eight limbs of the noble path; the method of liberation from Emptiness, the method of liberation from the Formless, the method of liberation from the Wishless; five types of eyes, six magical powers; the Buddha’s ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the four clear understandings, great love, great compassion, great joy, great equanimity, eighteen uncombined Buddha dharmas; Dharma does not forget, nature is always equanimous; All-embracing wisdom, all-embracing Path knowledge, all-embracing wisdom; All Da-la-ni dharmas, all Samadhi dharmas and other immeasurable, limitless Buddha dharmas, all are the outflow-free dharmas mentioned therein.
Kauśika, if good men and good women teach one sentient being to attain Stream-entry, the merit and virtue they will gain is greater than teaching all kinds of sentient beings in the whole world three thousand times like that, making them all practice the four Meditations, the four Immeasurables, the four formless Concentrations, and the five miraculous powers. Why? Kauśika, because sentient beings who practice the four Meditations, the four Immeasurables, the four formless Concentrations, and the five magical powers cannot escape hell, animals, and ghosts. But if sentient beings stay in the state of Stream-entry, they will be forever freed from the three evil paths, let alone be taught and reformed to stay in the state of Once-returner, Non-returner, and Arhat, then will the merit and virtue not be better than that?
Kauśika, if good men and good women teach all kinds of sentient beings in the whole world three times a thousand times to attain the fruition of Stream-winner, Once-returner, Non-returner, and Arhat, then the merit and virtue they will gain is not as good as having someone who teaches one sentient being, making them abide in the state of Solitary Enlightenment. Why? Kauśika, because the merit of Solitary Enlightenment is better than that of Stream-winner? hundreds, thousands of times.
Kauśika, due to there one should know, if good men and women copy Perfection of Wisdom profound as such, give to others read and recite, or passing to another copy, spread widely, then merit has obtain far more than says merit previously immeasurable, boundless. Because why? Because all excellent dharma of in the world and beyond the world have already extensively explained within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom as such. Because dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world has newly obtained existence of great Kshatriya lineage, great Brahmin lineage, great Elder lineage, great Householder lineage; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the assembly of the Heaven of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-Three Heavens (Trāyastriṃśa), the Yāma Heaven, the Tuṣita Heaven, the Heaven of Enjoyment by Transformation, the Heaven of Others’ Transformation; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Brahma Beings Heaven, the Brahma Ministers Heaven, the Great Brahma Heaven; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Light Heaven, the Minor Light Heaven, the Immeasurable Light Heaven, the Utmost Pure Light Heaven; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Purity Heaven, the Minor Purity Heaven, the Immeasurable Purity Heaven, the Universal Purity Heaven; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Radiance Heaven, the Minor Radiance Heaven, the Immeasurable Radiance Heaven, the Broad Result Heaven; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the No Affliction Heaven, the No Heat Heaven, the Good Manifestation Heaven, the Good Vision Heaven, the Highest Form Heaven (Akaniṣṭha); because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of the Realm of Infinite Space, the Realm of Infinite Consciousness, the Realm of Nothingness, the Realm of Neither Perception nor Non-Perception; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Perfection of Generosity, Perfection of Pure Precepts, Perfection of Patient Endurance, Perfection of Diligent Effort, Perfection of Meditative Concentration, Perfection of Wisdom; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of true suchness, dharma-realm, dharma-nature, nature of non-falsity, nature of non-alteration, nature of equality, nature dissociated from birth, dharma-fixity, dharma-abiding, reality-limit, realm of space, inconceivable realm; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Noble Truth of Suffering, Noble Truth of Arising, Noble Truth of Cessation, Noble Truth of the Path; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of four Dhyanas, four Immeasurables, four Formless Concentrations; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of eight Liberations, eight Bases of Mastery, nine Sequential Concentrations, ten Totalities; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of four Foundations of Mindfulness, four Right Efforts, four Bases of Supernatural Power, five Spiritual Faculties, five Powers, seven Factors of Enlightenment, eight-fold Noble Path; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Liberation Gateway of Emptiness, Liberation Gateway of Signlessness, Liberation Gateway of Wishlessness; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of five Eyes, six Supernormal Powers; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of ten Powers of the Buddha, four Fearlessnesses, four Analytical Knowledges, great Loving-kindness, great Compassion, great Sympathetic Joy, great Equanimity, eighteen unique Buddha qualities; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of dharma of non-forgetfulness and the nature of ever-present equanimity; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Knowledge of All, Knowledge of Path-Aspects, Knowledge of All-Aspects; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of all Dharani gateways, all Samadhi gateways; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Stream-enterers, Once-returners, Non-returners, Arahants and Stream-entry Path, Stream-entry Fruit, Once-returner Path, Once-returner Fruit, Non-returner Path, Non-returner Fruit, Arahant Path, Arahant Fruit; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of Pratyekabuddhas and Pratyekabuddha attainment; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of all Great Bodhisattva and the Great Bodhisattva practice; because due to dharma has said within secret treasury Perfection of Wisdom this, in the world newly has obtained existence of all Tathagata, Worthy One, Perfectly Enlightened One and supreme fruit of Enlightenment of all Buddhas.
Furthermore, Kauśika, in addition to the sentient beings in this three-times-thousand world, if good men and good women teach all kinds of sentient beings in the ten directions of the world like the sands of the Ganges River, making them all practice the four Jingdhis, the four Immeasurables, the four formless Concentrations, and the five miraculous powers, then what due to you think? Are these good men and good women blessed with many blessings due to this cause and effect?
Indra replied: Venerable sir, a lot! a lot!
Buddha taught: Hey Kauśika, if good men and good women copy Prajna
If such a profound paramita is given to others to read, recite, or pass around to copy and spread widely, then that good man or good woman will have much more merit and virtue than before. Why? Kauśika, because all the outflow-free dharmas have been extensively mentioned in the secret collection of Prajnaparamita, Bodhisattvas of the Sravaka nature who practices this dharma quickly enter the Sravaka’s right nature of separation from birth, attaining Stream-winner fruition, once-returner fruition, non-returning fruition, and Arahant fruition; The Bodhisattva of the Single Enlightened nature, practicing and studying this dharma, quickly enters the right nature of separation from the Solitary Enlightenment, and in turn attains the state of Solitary Enlightenment; Bodhisattvas of the Bodhisattva nature who practice and study this dharma quickly enter the Bodhisattva’s right nature of separation from birth and attain the highest level of Enlightenment.
